Grey Partridge

Modern farming practices do not support the type of ecosystem needed to support a healthy grey partridge population in Ireland. There is a campaign to re-introduce them in the bog-lands with some success. Some were released close to me some years ago and a few still survive. They are extremely wary, often sitting motionless for ages, so patience is needed before they show themselves, creeping slowly through the headland vegetation.
